Types of Care
Family Support
We in Cuan Mhuire recognise the importance of family involvement in the treatment of the person suffering from addiction and in the recovery of the whole family.
Every effort is made to support family members of those taking part in our programmes. Where possible and appropriate, the participation of family in the healing, recovery and rehabilitation of the person on the programme is encouraged and facilitated.
Family Meetings
Monthly Family Meetings aimed at helping family members better understand addiction and how they can assist and support the person as they progress on the road to recovery are held at each Cuan Mhuire Centre. Family members are invited and encouraged to attend all family meetings for the duration of their loved one’s treatment programme. At the family meetings, we also encourage those who are affected by their relative’s addiction to seek help and support for themselves so that they too can embark on their own personal journey of healing. Al-Anon members are present at family meetings to offer information, support and guidance to family members.
Family Therapy Sessions
Individual Family Therapy is an integral part of the person’s treatment programme. Family members are encouraged to participate in these sessions. These sessions are arranged for a time convenient to all concerned.
Family Support in the Community
Peer Family Support can be accessed in the community through Al-Anon and Gam-Anon. See links below for details of meetings in your area.
