Why We Need Your Support?

Cuan Mhuire is the Nation’s Home for Recovery from Addiction.

We have been proudly supporting and restoring hope to those suffering from addiction since 1966. To ensure we are able to maintain and improve our Treatment Facilities and to retain, train and recruit our highly specialised Services Team that run the Cuan Mhuire Programme, across the country, Cuan Mhuire needs continued support, from a broad range of sources.

Your donation can make a real difference in the lives of those struggling with addiction. Every little bit counts in restoring hope and rebuilding lives.

Over the years Cuan Mhuire has supported over 100,000 people struggling with addiction. In 2023 we supported 2,324, an increase of 12% from 2022. Every year our admissions are going up as is the cost of living.

To continue to deliver Sr. Consilio's vision of restoring confidence, self-respect and self-worth, philanthropic support is crucial. Our works aims to ensure those suffering from addiction are able to develop their capacity to live independently, free from addiction. We welcome all who come to us – we treat all who come to us with love, dignity and understanding. Seeking treatment for addiction is a courageous step to take – Cuan Mhuire is honoured to share that journey with every addict who comes through our door, seeking recovery.

Sr. Consilio

To serve communities and families across the country, Cuan Mhuire has 5 Treatment Centres in Ireland: County Kildare, Galway, Limerick, Cork and Down. In addition, we have 7 Transition Houses in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Monaghan and Galway – each providing a next step towards independent living after treatment for those without a supportive home to return to. Last year was a busy year with 2324 admissions to our treatment centres across the country. Combined, we provided 170,395 annual treatment bed nights. This year will be even busier, every year is.

Since 1966 we have treated over 100,000 residents. For many, Cuan Mhuire was the only open door, the only light, at one of the darkest and most difficult times in their lives. Our door is always open to those who wish to recover, our hand is always extended to those suffering with addiction and our recovery family always has room for one more. Every addict seeking recovery is welcome here – this is always our position – this is what we do. For many of those battling addiction in Ireland, this is where the recovery journey and the hard work of healing starts.

Each Cuan Mhuire treatment centre struggles to meet the daily costs it must cover. We ask for additional financial support, so we are able to meet these costs and continue to deliver the excellent level of treatment required for those suffering from addiction. We are a not-for-profit, everything we have goes straight back to supporting those who need our help.

The income that Cuan Mhuire receives from the State, residents’ contributions, our cafes and garden centres does not meet the ever-increasing demand for our services each year. Sadly, the numbers of people suffering with addiction increases each year – which means our very limited resources get even more stretched with each passing year. To continue providing these life changing programmes, Cuan Mhuire needs your philanthropic support. We don’t discriminate - all are welcome, and all are equal here - irrespective of faith, culture or financial circumstances. Cuan Mhuire never turns anyone away because of their inability to pay, what they believe in or where they come from – all that is required is a genuine desire to recover from addiction.

To continue in this way, to ensure our doors remains open to those who need us, when they need us, we need regular philanthropic support from individuals, corporates and foundations. Right now, we don’t attract enough support like this – which is why your support is so vital to our work. Please know that your support, at whatever level you can give, will help where it matters most, and it will help now. Your support will help ensure that Cuan Mhuire remains visible and accessible to all on the frontline of addiction recovery. Our community is so thankful to each and every one of our donors. Without your support Cuan Mhuire simply would not exist.

Join us in making sure our door is never closed to those seeking recovery. Thank you for your support.
