Addiction 2 Recovery 120K Walk
Martin and Chris will be undertaking a arduous 120K walk from Roscommon to Cuan Mhuire, Co. Galway on 5th May 2022 in order to raise funds for this very worthy cause. Thank You For Your Support
Cuan Mhuire Philosophy
Cuan Mhuire is Ireland’s largest voluntary provider of Addiction Treatment Services and Residential Rehabilitation. It’s main objective is the rehabilitation of persons suffering from alcohol, drug and gambling addictions. The Cuan Mhuire Programme is based on the philosophy of total abstinence and strives to restore the confidence, self-respect and sense of responsibility of all participants.Support
& Aftercare
Our programme supports those suffering from addiction and their families, as they progress through a systematic 12 week programme for alcohol and gambling and 20 week programme for substance misuse. These programmes may be extended, as we recognise every individual case is unique. We continue to provide support after treatment through a national network of Aftercare and Family Support. At any one time Cuan Mhuire has in excess of 570 people in their centres nationwide.Approx. 100,000 people treated
Every year some 2,500 persons are admitted to Cuan Mhuire treatment centres. Since it’s formation in 1966 by Sr. Consilio, Cuan Mhuire has treated approximately 100,000 people. We believe that the place and setting within which the programme is offered is just as important as the programme itself. In addition to individual counselling and group therapy, Cuan Mhuire also provides life skills training for all it’s Residents within the treatment programme.
Our Mission
To provide an environment in which people who feel rejected and dejected because of their addictions become aware of, and learn to deal with the underlying problems relating to these addictions and discover their uniqueness, goodness, giftedness and their real purpose in life.
Our Aims
To offer a comprehensive twelve/twenty week, abstinence-based, residential addiction treatment programme which includes detoxification. To offer family support to the relatives of those in treatment. To offer a two year Aftercare Programme to those in recovery and their families To ensure staff have the necessary skills to enable them to achieve those objectives.

We have a distinctive 12 week (alcohol and gambling) and 20 week (substance misuse) treatment programmes. We also have the capacity to vary the length of stay to meet the specific needs of individual residents.
Detoxification is provided on site.

We provide training in life skills and personal development as well as educational programmes aimed at enhancing work skills.
We provide a two year ‘Aftercare’ programme, which includes the families of our residents.
